When introduced to the work of Frank Lloyd Wright at the age of 14, Roger was “struck by architectural lightning” and has never recovered. By the age of 18 he had won numerous awards for his work in a pioneering, 3-year architectural design program at Phillips Exeter Academy. He studied as an undergraduate at the Princeton University School of Architecture and received his Master of Fine Arts in Architecture from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. He is driven by a passionate belief in the power of architecture to influence and enrich human life by expressing and celebrating our deepest emotions and spiritual needs. He also believes that architecture is at its most powerful when it is a product of a continuous design-build process involving total client services, from initial design consultations all the way through to “turnkey” delivery of the finished home to the client, and even beyond to follow-up services, such as maintenance programs and long-term care of buildings to preserve them for future generations.
“Architecture at its best is a kind of choreography – an elaborate and magical dance. It wraps us in its arms, protecting us, sheltering us, while these same arms gently nudge and thrust us into nature and the world beyond our nest – it is at once safe, protective of our uniqueness, while asking us to belong, to connect with, and embrace the world beyond. This is the most basic rhythm of human life – to be authentic and individual – and yet, at the same time, to be engaged, to be one with nature, to be part of the human whole. On this level, architecture speaks to the best within us. What greater mission can art or architecture have?”
